We are now down to the final three trucks of this exhibition match. The way this round will work, should no trucks be eliminated, is that the round will continue in a cycle until one has been eliminated. We will then move on to the finals, which will work the same way. Our final trucks right now are all part of the classic nineteen trucks and all had good rankings in the standings for the September-October series. We now are onto our first run of the fourth round…. Gun Slinger!
The red truck lines up to the ramp, preparing for another good run. And if there is one truck that can outright expect excellence in its own performance, it is Gun Slinger. After not being a strong force in the earliest July tournaments, he began to become a force in the first events of September. After going on to win that series, he has a lot to prove. The staging lights go green and Gun Slinger’s run is underway. He goes through the air flawlessly, but comes down awkwardly on his tailgate. The truck bounces backward and he is on his roof. The truck barrel rolls down the rest of the run and Gun Slinger is eliminated. The next round will be the finals. Should both remaining trucks get there, that is.
The way a situation like this works, is that should one of the next two trucks become eliminated, then the other truck will make a run, and should that run be good, he will be awarded the win. This has every possibility of being the final round.
The next truck up is hoping for this scenario to come into play with himself on top of things. Blacksmith lines up to the ramp. The staging lights go green and he is flying through the air. The truck comes down on one of its back wheels and he spins out onto his roof. He comes up on one of his sides and flips over onto the other. Finally, the truck comes to a rest by the lot of non-participating trucks. Blacksmith is eliminated, leaving only Blue Thunder left to run. Should this be a good run, he will win. However, should he fail, both Gun Slinger and Blacksmith will be allowed to return and this round will continue.
Blue Thunder stages for his run. The pressure is on him to succeed. One mishap on this run and his competition will be allowed to return. Although, so will he. Everything is riding on this one run. The timer clicks down. 3. 2. 1. The lights go green and Blue Thunder blasts over the ramp and into the air. He gets tremendous air, but his front end comes down before the back and the rounded hood of the truck slides under. The truck goes end over end and winds up stopping in the same place Blacksmith landed. Blue Thunder, having an eliminating run, has allowed both Gun Slinger and Blacksmith to return. This triple threat match continues, as Gun Slinger takes the ramp for the second run of the round.
The history making round prepares to go into its second phase as Gun Slinger prepares to run. Should he make it, the remaining eliminations in this round, should there be any, will be official. The staging lights go green and the fate of all the trucks is on Gun Slinger’s wheels. And he pulls it off. Gun Slinger comes down into a spectacular wheelie, soaring down the run. He comes back down on all four wheels and stands triumphant. This round only has two runs left in it, should one truck be eliminated. Remember though, that if both trucks are successful, that round four will still continue.
A truck that would rather this round continue than go into the next because of his elimination, is Blacksmith. The legendary black truck takes the line. He’ll wind up in the finals if he can keep up his winning streak, and avoid a run like his previous one. The staging lights go green and Blacksmith’s second run of the round begins. He takes this one slow. Gently coming down off the ramp, and into a small wheelie. He’ll advance.
Now the pressure is again on Blue Thunder. The Ford truck can make this the last run of the round should he fail. Should he succeed, the round will continue The staging lights go green and everything is on. Blue Thunder’s tires squeal as they spin, and the truck catches traction. He goes up and into the air. He comes down to the ground without a single fault. Not even going into a wheelie, the truck cruises on.
The round will continue with these three, fiercely competitive trucks.
The first truck up again, is Gun Slinger. His 3rd run in one round. The truck guns it and goes airborne. He comes down at an awkward angle and the truck bounces skyward. He comes back down on his roof, and bounces again. He goes into a barrel roll and finally comes back down onto his wheels. However, the roll has eliminated him. Should any of the other two trucks make a good run, this will be official and they will go the finals. Or make the finals this round.
Blacksmith wants to be the truck to do it. He revs his engine and blasts over the ramp. He comes back down softly onto the ground He bounces a few times down the run, but doesn’t flip over. He comes to a stop at the end of the run. Success. Gun Slinger’s elimination is official . Gun Slinger will finish 3rd.
Now, for the third time this round, the pressure is again on Blue Thunder. Should he have a successful run, he will go to the finals with Blacksmith. Should he fail, Blacksmith will run for a fourth time this round. If that run is successful, then Blacksmith is the winner. If he fails, then the finals will begin in the next round. But none of that is set to happen just yet. It is still in his hands, what will happen. Blue Thunder stages for his run. The staging lights click down. One chance will decide the course of this contest. Green. The truck soars. He comes down with a good landing, but his right front wheel jams. He flips onto his roof and tumbles down the run. He finally comes to a rest on his side. Elimination.
But he is still not out of it quite yet. Blacksmith has a deciding run. Should he make it – he wins. Should he fail – the tournament continues and Blue Thunder is able to return. The pressure is now on him. He stages for his run. 3. 2. 1. Green light. He flies. He comes down into a seemingly perfect landing. But as he cruises down the run, he goes into a curve. The truck is still moving too fast. He rocks over onto his side. A rollover. He flips over once again onto his wheels. The run was a failure. The battle continues in the next round – the final round – between Blue Thunder and Blacksmith.
